April Notes
April has brought lots of rain, creating mud puddles, flowing waterfalls in the creeks, and filling up the mud kitchen rain barrel which we used as a waterworks station. We've been finding spring ephemeral wild flowers such as trillium, toothwort, dutchman's breeches, trout lily, bluebells, and many others. We've even found 3 morel mushrooms already! The wildlife around Fairywood has been very active. We've been hearing lots of bird calls, watched great blue herons fly over us, and we found a giant crawdad in the big creek. We collected chickweed, onion grass, redbuds, and violets to make a delicious wild salad. We've been writing our names in the dirt with sticks, painting spring murals on the garage, and acting out our favorite stories and songs.
