    Yellowwood Adventures and Journals

    Yellowwood Adventures and Journals

    On Monday and Tuesday this week we ventured off to one of our favorite spots in a section of Yellowwood state forest, the “ Rocky Ravine.” This narrow valley is full of big mossy boulders and steep slopes to climb up and slide down. We've also been making dens and playing our favorite forest games: Leaf Monster, Baby Dragons, and Howl and Seek. We’ve been using our journals to dictate stories, draw stories, and record observations that we share with the class.

    Process Art

    We've been experimenting with different forms of process art the past two weeks, where we focus on the process of mixing colors and textures using techniques that often engage the whole body and inspire collaboration with friends. We rolled walnuts around in a shallow box filled with paint and moved them around with sticks. We printed with tubes, stamps, hair rollers, cookie cutters, and pine needles.
