Observing Wildlife and Wild Animal Matching Game
We've been spotting frogs, a luna moth, water snakes, salamanders, a box turtle, grubs and worms, snails, and a robin's egg that fell from a nest. Whenever we find wildlife during play or walks in the creek and woods, everyone stops and gathers around to watch. We sometimes sit for long periods of time, asking questions, pointing out observations, or simply being quiet and calm in the presence of these amazing creatures.
Speaking of wildlife, we've also been playing the Wild Animal Matching game. We draw index cards with pictures of animals that live at Fairywood. There are two of each animal. After everyone has a card they begin to act like their animal, moving how they move, making any sounds they make, etc. and searching for their match. We play until everyone has found their match. It's been a lot fun!
