There was some talk about volcanoes during class one day. So we challenged the kids to work together to make volcanoes in the sandbox using sand, old playdough, mud, rocks, flowers, and whatever else was around. Then we erupted them using both the baking soda and vinegar reaction and the Mentos and Diet Coke reaction. While the Mentos/Diet coke eruption was much more exciting, we did enjoy being able to color the vinegar red to make it look more like flowing lava.
