Our new school year is off to a great start! We've been seeing lots of wildlife and playing games that help us get to know each other better.
This is an eastern box turtle that one of the kids named Burt. Burt has been hanging out in the creek at our favorite spot every morning, occasionally swimming across the pools and sticking its head in and out of the water. Box turtles can eat fish, frogs, insects, snails, berries, flowers, and roots, so Burt has a lot of options down in the creek.
While down at the creek we've also been collecting lots of clay to make creatures and also just enjoying the sensory experience as well as making fairy homes, finding cool rocks, and playing the What's Missing? game.
We found some dried out puffball mushrooms.
Climbing trees, building ladders, swinging, tug o war, playdough, and dying fabric with marigold flowers and elderberries.
Sliding, stories, bark fairy houses, printing with tubes and our feet, and building with blocks.
